What's happening?
๐ We're just about at the pointy end of some changes at work that directly affect me, my role, and my team. It's been a while coming and I think it's the change I need, so even though I'm losing line management of awesome people it's probably the right thing for absolutely everybody. It's coincided with a busy period of reporting AND some nice positivity, so I'm counting it all as a win.
๐ฆ Took my nephew down to see his nana and gramps on the Isle of Wight, which meant some nice time with him and some nice time with my folks too. He's a proper real person now despite only being eight. Love spending time with him.
๐ง And separately we spent some time with our three-year-old niece, running around in the garden and singing along to Beatles songs together. She's such a smiley happy dude and is just as much fun to spend time with.
๐ฑ Speaking of the garden, I did the first mow of the lawn(s) on Saturday. Took literal hours. We live in a very nice little cul de sac where the central area gets mown regularly by an agency and everyone is houseproud except for me and my scruffy, long lawn. Peer pressure. Might go full on Mr Trebus and have done with it.
Some entertainment I've enjoyed:
๐ I was concerned that Yael van der Wouden's The Safekeep would be a derivative dowdy-woman-meets-bubbly-woman-and-sparks-fly drama but, boy, was I wrong. Great book.
๐บ Look, Paradise is the stupidest drama ever conceived with an awful pun-filled soundtrack, silly murders, and twists that are so obvious that you may as well have Chubby Checker announce them. But it's mindless gloop and I like how stupid it is. Because it really is stupid.
๐ถ Everyone else is listening to Angine de Poitrine so I guess I should too. They make me miss Battles a lot.
